7th Liquid Sound Festival 8th-9th November 2008
For the seventh time in succession and as unique as ever: underwater art
for all the senses, round the clock, all night long, from Saturday
evening to a matinee on Sunday morning. With performances and sounds in
the water and on and above the water’s surface, the festival takes place
in parallel in the Toskana Therme Bad Sulza, the Toskana Therma Bad
Schandau and, for the very first time, in the Therme am Park Bad
Nauheim.

feelings begin to shine when immersed in water.

Of all the elements, water is the nearest to our
imagination, to dreaming and the sound of the sirens. And so it is only
natural that we should want to explore the medium of water. Liquid Sound® corrects a common misunderstanding: that water is a dumb element. Anyone
who has bathed in a Liquid Sound® pool with their ears beneath the surface
will know that water possesses excellent acoustic properties.

Our senses perceive the world differently in
water than on dry land. Sound waves envelope us from all sides, reaching
us not only through the ears but also skin and bones, and all that almost
five times faster than in the air. The medium is not just message, it
is the massage. Fine vibrations enliven our body’s organism from
within and without; it stimulates our senses and connects with our soul.
For thermal baths this is revolutionary, but for the oceans this is nothing
new – the troubadours of the oceans, the whales, have been giving
underwater poetry readings and concerts for 40 million years, live, day
and night.

The sound of whale song also excites the human ear. In water, their
sound makes physical contact. New sensations also awaken new desires:
what’s it feel like to listen to the Blues in blue water?
… how
about yellow and red for Bach underwater?
… or ambient trance
to pulsating lights fields?
… or poetry afloat in utter darkness?
… or
the desire to float in as yet unseen multimedia patterns, to float and
sway, introverted and ecstatic half-dreaming, half-dancing in a fluid
architecture that has merged with the fluid music. And how? That’s
easy: there’s nothing to it except to do nothing!
